Monet Accounting

Monet separates economic activity into five independent accounting domains. Each domain answers a different economic question, uses explicitly defined units, and derives authority from a defined source.

Constitutional Architecture

Separation prevents accounting ambiguity

Monet does not maintain a single accounting system. Custody, Measurement, Reserve Accounting, Posting Authorization, and Settlement Accounting remain independent because each solves a different economic problem. No accounting domain substitutes for another.

This separation allows measurement, accounting, authorization, and settlement to evolve independently while preserving deterministic economic integrity.

Accounting Domains

Five constitutional economic domains

Economic state moves through a defined sequence of responsibility. Each stage has its own purpose, canonical unit, and authoritative producer.

01

Custody

What assets are actually owned and held by Monet?

Custody represents the ownership and storage of real external assets. It records asset quantities and ownership without determining their economic authorization.

Measurement

What are the custody assets worth?

Measurement determines the authoritative economic value of custody assets. Oracle produces this economic truth for consumption by Reserve Accounting without performing accounting or settlement itself.

Reserve Accounting

How much economic value is available to authorize settlement?

Reserve Accounting represents the economic value available to support settlement issuance. It consumes Oracle-produced reserve truth and expresses reserve authority through Gold-Equivalent Minor Units.

Posting Authorization

How much settlement may safely be issued?

Posting Authorization is the deterministic bridge between Reserve Accounting and Settlement. It consumes reserve authority and determines how much settlement may safely proceed.

Settlement Accounting

How much iEthereum does each machine own inside Monet?

Settlement Accounting represents the internal transfer of value between recognized machines. Settlement is denominated in iE, representing internal iEthereum settlement units.

Economic Flow

From external assets to machine ownership

External Asset

Economic assets exist outside Monet.

Custody

Monet observes what assets are actually held.

Measurement

Oracle determines their authoritative economic value.

Reserve Accounting

Measured value becomes reserve accounting authority.

Posting Authorization

Reserve authority determines how much settlement may proceed.

Settlement Accounting

Authorized iE is transferred through Monet's internal ledger.

Machine Ownership

Recognized machines hold and transfer settlement value.

Unit Domains

Matching numbers do not imply matching value

Each accounting domain has a canonical economic unit. Matching decimal precision does not establish matching economic meaning. Decimal precision is representation; unit definitions are constitutional.

Constitutional Principle

Conversion precedes comparison

Monet never authorizes settlement because numerical values appear equal.

Settlement is authorized only after deterministic conversion into the appropriate accounting domain. Every accounting comparison must occur between matching economic units.

Engineering Principles

Permanent accounting constraints

Accounting domains remain independent.

Unit domains remain explicitly defined.

Economic conversions remain deterministic.

Reserve authority remains singular.

Settlement never creates economic value.

Reserve authorization always precedes settlement issuance.

Internal settlement never exceeds authorized reserve capacity.

Accounting Documentation

Additional accounting architecture

The constitutional overview establishes the common accounting framework. Additional documentation will provide deeper treatment of Reserve Accounting, Settlement Accounting, Posting Authorization, Liability Accounting, Treasury Accounting, and Fee Accounting.
